Projects

Our research focus is to better understand the mechanisms for effective segregation of damaged proteins aggregates. We are developing mathematical models to describe the dynamic behavior of single cells in populations as well as the behaviors of entire populations, both under deterministic and stochastic assumptions. The developed models are used to address cell viability and propose the best evolutionary strategies to achieve immortal population.

The experimental work is done in Saccharomyces cerevisiae, a powerful and established eukaryotic model organism with its genome fully sequenced and is thus highly suitable to study age-related biological processes occurring in higher organisms.

The research group is interdisciplinary and contains competences in mathematics, computer science, biotechnology and biology.
